What's a Union? A union is a group of workers who form an organization to gain respect on the job, better wages and benefits, more flexibility for work and family needs and a counterbalance to the unchecked power of employers. Today, forming a union is one of the most effective ways for a group of workers to stand up for workplace rights. Unions provide legal support for workers; this is especially important when workers are so often intimidated, harassed, and fired for standing up and speaking out.
