LWAC hits the North East, Meets
USAS high schoolers
October 4, 2005 LWAC
consultants Liz O’Callahan and Mike Wilson visited
the beautiful town of Northampton, Massachusetts this
past weekend and presented a workshop at the United
Students Against Sweatshops North East Regional
High School Conference at Smith College. We got a chance
to meet some amazing high schoolers well on their way
to becoming amazing social justice and labor activists.
These folks were incredible in their excitement and
willingness to learn. We led a Living Wage 101 workshop
that lasted over an hour with questions and discussion
ranging from how to determine a living wage to how to
tackle issues of oppression in worker solidarity organizing.
We were able to do some amazing bonding, explore the
wonders of Smith and Northampton, and meet some incredible
people. Plus the train is fun!
