LWAC visits University of Wisconsin-Madison
October 3, 2005 LWAC
staffers, Ginny and I spent three days in Madison, Wisconsin
working with members of the Student-Labor
Action Coalition. On Thursday night, we spoke in
a Forum called The Fight for Workplace Democracy, with
university employee Carlos Martinez and Bill Franks
of AFT 4848 and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce
Development. It turned into a good conversation about
escalation and direct action strategies as folks were
really excited about the Georgetown hunger strike. On
Friday, Ginny and I met with SLAC members for an extremely
productive dialogue about group dynamics. The Madison
folks were excited to bring this discussion back to
their larger group and saw the workshop as a good first
step in addressing internal dynamics.
